“Opposite of Loss”

Editorial Illustration

Date: 2023
Client: Good Grit Magazine

Good Grit is a lifestyle magazine that focuses on southern culture. This is a two full spread illustration featuring a short story on loss, grief, and how love prevails even through sadness.

I wanted to focus on themes that combined happiness with loss, so I featured Cardinals (often seen as symbols of a lost loved one watching over you), trees (for growth), symbols the author reflected fondly upon with her father (old corvette, taco bell), and flowers (for blooming new futures with the memory of your loved one).
